Encomiums as one of the industrious Sons of the Oyo empire, Politician, auditor, and tax practitioner, Hon. Kehinde Gbade Oshin, on Tuesday, was conferred with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Finance and Business Development, for his outstanding contributions and excellent services at the federal, state and local government level in Nigeria.

The Award was conferred on him by the Office of the Dean, School of Secondary Education (Vocational and Technical Programme) Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo at their 11th Biennial National Conference, Exhibition, and award programme.

Hon. Gbade Oshin was gratified to have been considered worthy of the award in recognition of his outstanding and excellent service to the federal, state, and local government in the country.


The Dean of the School of Secondary Education, Vocational and technical programme, Dr. F.A Alaka, stated that the theme; “Stemming the Tide of Oversea Emigration for Greener Pasture: Vocational and Technical Education to the Rescue” provides a veritable opportunity for all stakeholders to seek a better way against the quest for greener pasture, look inward for vocational and technical education to the rescue in advancing the course of the productive standard of living.

He further reiterated that the objective of technical education is thus to equip students with skills that allow them to effectively apply the theoretical knowledge that they have acquired. It is a known fact that technical education focuses more on the understanding and practical application of basic principles of science and mathematics.
The biennial conference was the desire to cultivate a cadre of technical professionals who are equipped with entrepreneurial skills, to give insights, and professional guidance on the essence of vocational and technical education as a way out to an overpopulated market of unemployed youths.
Honoring the illustrious son of the soil, Dr. Alaka lauded the impact of Hon. Kehinde Gbade Oshin noting that the investiture recognized his top-notch contribution to vocational training and development.

While receiving the prestigious Award, Hon. Gbade Oshin lauded the Dean and staff members of the School of Vocational and Technical Education, Federal College of Education Special, Oyo for their show of patriotism in his productive service delivery.
According to him; “One thing that must be noted about technical education is that it prepares the ground for development by training students to become initiators, facilitators, and implementers of technological development. It will thus help drive development at the national level”.
He said the award is a “call for more action in finance and business development tailored along vocational and technical education to address social problems in our communities”.

Oshin further reiterated that Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is often regarded as inferior, or as a second choice after professional education, regardless of the student’s interests (indeed passions) or abilities. Many people therefore dismiss promising and meaningful career paths in areas where employment demand is greater, simply because of the stigma attached to technical and vocational occupations.

He urged the facilitator to counsel youth on essence of vocational and technical works, saying it’s only way to survive in this 21st century.
