A group under the auspices of Itsiwaju Ogooluwa Vanguard has alleged the Executive Chairman of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye for embarking on a destructive spree aimed at erasing the legacies of Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, the dedicated representative of Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
The political group, in a statement made available to newsmen by its cordinator, Samuel Adesoye, on Sunday, said that Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye, accompanied by his allies, took to the streets and systematically vandalized all banners and campaign materials promoting himself and the other (10) councilors.
The statement read: “Today, March, 10, 2024, the Executive Chairman of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye, demonstrated a flagrant disregard for democracy and the rule of law by embarking on a destructive spree aimed at erasing the legacies of Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, the dedicated representative of Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
“In a brazen display of impunity, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye, accompanied by his allies, took to the streets and systematically vandalized all banners and campaign materials promoting himself and the other (10) councilors.
“The boards and banners were donated by MHR, Ojo Sunday Makanjuola’s, across all the Wards in the Local Government Area, in supporting the forthcoming Local Government Election, 2024. in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government.
“In his reckless pursuit to undermine democracy, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye boldly proclaimed, “I will destroy all these banners and erase his legacies in my local government without ANYBODY’S PERMISSION.”
“This reprehensible act of political vandalism, orchestrated by Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye, not only undermines the democratic process but also reflects poorly on his leadership and commitment to serving the people of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government. By brazenly defacing campaign materials and attempting to silence political opposition, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye has betrayed the trust of the electorate and failed in his responsibility to uphold the principles of democracy.
“Furthermore, Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye’s arrogant assertion that “nobody can stop me” and his dismissal of the need for campaign support from the incumbent representative, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, further highlights his autocratic tendencies and disregard for the will of the people. His actions not only undermine the democratic process but also threaten the stability and integrity of our local government.
“Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye must be held accountable for his flagrant abuse of power and violation of democratic norms. The people of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government deserve leadership that respects their rights, upholds the rule of law, and promotes inclusive governance. Anything short of this is a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the electorate.
In light of these disgraceful actions, we call on all stakeholders, including the Oyo State Government, law enforcement agencies, and the electorate, to condemn this assault on democracy and demand accountability from Hon. Ojo Seun Adesoye.”
