The highly anticipated GSM/Elegant inter-secondary school football competition across Ido Local Government Areas commenced on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Community high school ALAHO
This event, which has gained significant traction in the council area and Oyo State, aims to foster the development of grassroots football. It is generously sponsored by Mr. Adedamola Olajide, also known as Elegant. The competition has been fiercely contested among secondary schools in Ido.
Mr. Adedamola Olajide stated that the competition is aligned with Engr Seyi Makinde’s sustainable development agenda, particularly in the realm of sporting activities. The primary goal is to provide secondary school students with a high-level football competition and expose them to international standards as part of their extracurricular activities.
Community High School Batakari
The group stage matches kicked off on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, involving 24 secondary school teams. The results were as follows:
- Community High School Agelu 3 – 1 Community High School Siba.
- Promise Land Senior School 4 – 2 St. Michael Senior School.
- Community High School Bode Igbo 3 – 3 Leo Community High School Oloko, with Chs Bodegbo winning 4 – 3 in a penalty shootout.
- Community High School Alaho 2 – 0 Community High School Sinko.
- United Christian Secondary School 1 – 0 Batakari.
- Community High School Bako 3 – 0 St. John.
- Community High School Elenushonsho 5 – 0 Community High School Ologuneru Junior.
- Community High School Batake/Idiya 2 – 1 Community High School Kajola.
- Community High School Awotan 3 – 0 Community High School Apete.
- Christian Secondary School Orisun 2 – 3 Community High School Akufo.
The event’s organizer, Mr. Adedamola Olajide (Elegant), informed our correspondent that the competition continued on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 and it has been highly engaging.
