27 Secondary Schools Set For Maiden GSM/Elegant Football Cup In Ido

Twenty-seven (27) secondary schools are expected to participate in the inaugural GSM/Elegant football competition across the Ido local government areas of Oyo State.

The championship competition is scheduled to commence at various zones across the Ido council area on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Mr. Adedamola Olajide (a.k.a. Elegant), the organizer of the event, acknowledged that the competition is designed to align with Engr Seyi Makinde’s sustainable development agenda in the area of sporting activities. He emphasized that the competition is intended to provide secondary school students with a high level of football competition and expose them to international standards as part of extracurricular activities.

“Secondary school students possess unique talents, and if properly nurtured and coached, they can meet international standards. My NGO (Elegant) will assist these young individuals in pursuing their dreams,” he stated.

He pledged to support and encourage them in realizing their aspirations, mentioning that the winners will receive gold medals, one hundred thousand Naira (#100,000.00), and branded new jerseys. The second-place team will be awarded silver medals, fifty thousand Naira (#50,000), and branded jerseys. The third-place team will receive twenty-five thousand Naira (#25,000.00) and branded jerseys, while the fourth-place team will be given branded jerseys.

Additional benefits include money prizes for the Best Goalkeeper with the gold glove, the Highest Goal Scorer, Most Assists, and the Fair Play Team. The Best Player of the tournament will receive soccer boots and prizes.

  • Community High School Kusenla/Erinwusi
  • Community High School Elesinfunfun
  • Community High School Elenusonso
  • Community High School, Ido
  • Leo Community High School Oloko/Elere
  • Community High School Ogundele Alaho
  • Community High School Junior Ologuneru
  • Community High School Orisun/Awotan
  • Community High School Siba
  • Community High School Sinko
  • Kajola/Olohuntedo Community High School Sonso Awa
  • Iwajowa Community High School Ilaju
  • Owode Community High School, Bode Igbo
  • Promised Land Community High School
  • St. John’s Secondary Schools, Onigbagbo Omi-Adio
  • St. Michael’s A/C Grammar School Junior Owode
  • St. Michael’s A/C Grammar School Senior Owode
  • United Christian Secondary School, Omi-Adio

On November 1st, Zone 1 will feature the following competitions:

I. Community High School Vs Agelu Community High School
II. Leo Community High School Oloko Vs Owode Community High School Bode Igbo
III. Promised Land Senior Vs St. Michael’s Senior
IV. St. Michael’s Junior Vs BYE
