Even with the increased socioeconomic crises in the country, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, keeps raising the bar of leadership with his skillful management of the people and resources. Showing empathy and compassion for the plight of the citizens has become an idiosyncrasy of the Oyo State Government under GSM.
Have you ever wondered why GSM, as he’s fondly called, always comes up with prompt solutions to different problems in the state? Then you need a searchlight into his administration to understand the enormous contributions of sagacious individuals around the governor, people who are ardently committed to effective and efficient service delivery in the state.
While paying rapt attention to the system, I have carefully identified a handful of people around the governor, but there is one individual whose dedication and contributions to the success of this administration and the progress of the state are unmatched. He’s a skilled manager of interest and a reliable team player. That henchman is Otunba Seye Famojuro.
Balogun Bobajiro of Orile Igbon is a man of many impacts. His rare ability to resolve issues, identify potential, support efforts, and manage interest has endeared him to people across the state. Above all, he is humble in his power.
Otunba exhibited some rare attributes in recent days that made him stand out among his contemporaries. His desire to cushion the effects of economic hardship coupled with his determination to see GSM succeed made him go out of his comfort zone to monitor the distribution of palliatives across the State. He personally supervised the distribution meticulously to make sure that the targeted population got the relief in a complete package without being shortchanged.
On his way back to Ibadan, there was a spectacular incident that confirmed again that Otunba Seye is totally concerned about the plight of ordinary citizens in Oyo State. While passing through, he saw that some vehicles that were transporting charcoal were stopped by unidentified individuals at Ijaye near Moniya. Otunba stopped his car and went there personally to investigate what was happening.
He discovered that those traders were stopped by unlicensed persons who extorted N1,700 on every bag of charcoal without permission from the necessary authorities. These innocent traders have been extorted for a long time, but behold, the presence of Otunba that day brought enormous joy to their hearts as they were free to do their business without unnecessary pressure from non-state actors. The culprits were handed over to security agents and are presently facing the wrath of the law.
With his personality, Otunba Seye is a bundle of blessings to the administration of His Excellency, and his prudent approaches to issues have helped the state get over many challenges. While Otunba continues to work with Governor Seyi Makinde to uplift the state, his support for the citizens will always be reckoned with.
