……As WAEC moved ongoing examination in the School to a nearby Primary School.

Member representing, Oriire State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Jacob Abidoye Bamigboye has inspected the Iluju Community Secondary School bridge in his Constituency washed away by flood occasioned by heavy downpour, with an appeal to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to urgently help fix the road.

Hon Bamigboye made the appeal Monday after being conducted round the damaged bridge by Prince Sule Garuba who represented the Oniluju of Iluju Community in Oriire Local Government, Chief Garuba Abiodun.

Sunday’s heavy downpour which continued Monday morning had destroyed the only bridge connecting Iluju Community to other adjoining communities, and consequently prevented the SSS3 students of Community Secondary School, Iluju who are currently writing WAEC from gaining access into their school.

To enable the SSS 3 students to sit for their English language examination scheduled for today, Monday, the WAEC officials and the School management had to move the center to the nearby primary school.

The development has also prevented the teeming residents of the Community who are mainly farmers from getting to their farms and bringing their farm produce to the markets and the city for sale .

While saying that the enormity of the damage is too much to bear by the community, Hon Bamigboye urged the Oyo State Government through the State Ministry of Works and Transportation to come to the aid of Iluju Community as soon as possible.

” This is really a sad development. The road is the only link connecting Iluju Community to all other communities. We are grateful that no life was lost in the collapsed bridge. This is why I decided to inspect the damaged bridge and appeal to our amiable Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde to help direct relevant Ministry or Agency to commence the reconstruction of the bridge. Our SSS3 students nearly missed their paper but for the alternative arrangement made by the officials. Our people are mostly farmers and that bridge serves as their only means of getting to their various acres and hectares of farmlands. So you can imagine what this portends . The people are already worried hence my appeal for urgent action . ” Hon Bamigboye stressed.
