Member of Oyo State house of Assembly, Honourable Yusuf Adebisi Currency, on Tuesday, set machinery in Motion for the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde to immortalise late fuji maestro, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (MFR), who died 11years ago.

In a motion presented before the floor of the house by the Honourable Member representing Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi. Also co-sponsored the bill is the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Fadeyi, Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola, Hon. Gabriel Babajide, Julius Okedoyin and Hon. Akeem Obadara.

While presenting the motion titled “Need to Immortalize a Music Icon and General, Late Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (MFR), Hon. Adebisi, described the late Fuji icon as a legend, who had played vital role in the evolution of Fuji music in the country.

The lawmaker said, “the impact of music on human life cannot be over emphasized as music serves as a medium of entertainment and education.” Music has been scientifically proven to have a powerful effect in the brain, which includes
Pain reduction, stress relief and many more.

Musicians who had made indelible marks in the music industry need to be remembered and celebrated whether they’re still alive or dead, this will encourage upcoming musicians to be more focused and see the need to put in more effort to excel in their chosen career or profession.

Hon Yusuf Adebisi also noted that, Legends are born once in a century and every community has different Legends in all Fields and works of life. It is a wise saying that “charity begins at home”, if today we are celebrating the likes of Abebi Pele, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and other late Music Icon, we must take cognizance of our own in person of the late Legendary fuji icon Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Balogun, popularly known as (Ayinde Barrister or Mr Fuji).
His contribution to music in Nigeria, Africa and the world when he was alive is legendary, because He played essential role in the evolution of music especially in his homeland.

The youngest law maker, argued that he was convinced that the contribution of the late Music Icon, deserves special acknowledgement by immortalizing him to keep his memories alive.

To his constituents, Hon Yusuf Adebisi remarked, “Undoubtedly, we are marching forward in our quest to attract tourism, educational and other infrastructural facilities to our constituency and Oyo state at large.”
