- I am Ridwan Olajide from komu in Itesiwaju Local Gov’t Area of Oke-Ogun, Oyo State of Nigeria, a bona-fide and true son of the soil in Oke-Ogun and this is what I opined on the clamor for Oke-Ogun state, why we may not be able to realize it and what I believe could be the challenges of having Oke-Ogun State instead of the about to be created new Ibadan State which will leave Oke-Ogun, Oyo and Ogbomoso together in the new Oyo State.
- While my priorities remain unshaken on Oke-Ogun state creation, though may only subjected to creation of two more states out of the present Oyo State which is likely not realistic, hence Ibadan State and New Oyo State
But having Oke-Ogun as the capital City of the new Oyo State is also a ultimate priority. - Looking at what benefit would the new Oyo State fetch Oke-Ogun as a region and other regions that make up the about-to-be created new state Oyo which will consist of three geo-political zones out of the present Oyo State, namely: Oyo Zone, Ogbomoso Zone, Oke-Ogun Zone .
- With the present political system in Oyo State , Oyo Zone has 4 local Gov’ts with three HoA members and one HoR member, Ogbomoso has five (5) local Gov’ts with four (4) HoA members and two (2) HoR members while Oke-Ogun, the second largest region in the present Oyo State has ten (10) local Gov’ts with seven (7) HoA members and three (3) HoR members.
The four LG in Oyo zone and two local Gov’ts in Ogbomoso zone are presently in Oyo central Senatorial District while we have all the 10 LGs in Oke-Ogun and 3 LGs from Ogbomoso in Oyo-North Senatorial District. - Let’s now consider the new referendum granted without prejudice, the new Oyo state will have three (3) new senatorial districts, with at least ten (10) federal Reps and not less than 22 State House of Assembly members.
- In my own analysis on which local Gov’ts will form the new senatorial Districts.
(i) Senatorial District A with 7 local Gov’ts namely: Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola, Atisbo, Saki-East and Saki-West.
(ii) Senatorial District B with 6 local Gov’ts namely: Ogbomoso-North, Ogbomoso-South, Oriire, Olorunsogo, Irepo and Oorelope
(iii) Senatorial District C with 6 local Gov’t namely: Oyo-East, Oyo-West, Atiba, Afijio, Surulere and Ogo-Oluwa.
- The Federal House of Representatives as follows; Oyo-East/Oyo-West Fed Constituency, Afijio/Atiba FC, Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa FC, Ogbomoso-North FC, Ogbomoso-South/ Oriire FC, Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope FC, Saki-West FC, Saki-East/Atisbo FC, Iseyin/Itesiwaju FC, Kajola/Iwajowa FC.
- The state Assembly Constituencies.
Iseyin I, Iseyin II, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola, Atisbo, Saki-East, Saki-West I, Saki-West II, Oorelope, Irepo, Olorunsogo, Oriire, Ogbomoso-North I, Ogbomoso North II, Ogbomoso-South, Surulere, Ogo-Oluwa, Oyo-East, Oyo-West, Afijio, Atiba. - If we can have it this good, it will definitely create avenue for every parts of the new state to be represented by people of their choices. If we can not have Oke-Ogun state this time, the new Oyo State is not a bad one for us a people in Oke-Ogun, our unity will determine how far we can go in the new Oyo State.
