Government at all levels have been charged to engage and equip local security groups in order to effectively tackle insecurity confronting the country.
The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government area of Oyo State, Hon. Sherrif Adeojo, gave this charge on Tuesday during the presentation of eight brand new motorcycles with financial support to federal and unconventional security groups which include Hunters Vigilante Group of Nigeria (HVGN), Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and Agbekoya Group held at the Council Secretariat.
In a statement made available to heritageecho.com, through the council head of information unit, Alhaji Kunle Kareem, According to the Council boss, the collaborative efforts of local security groups will go a long way in ensuring drastic reduction in security challenges.
Hon. Adeojo also enjoined members of the public to always give useful information to security agencies in order to assist their operations in ensuring security of life and property.
In his words, “I need to remind you all that security is a civic responsibility that everybody must be involved” he stated.
Earlier in his address, the Council boss greatly commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his laudable support to security agencies in order to secure the state.
Hon. Sheriff Adeojo however, called on religious leaders to continue their prayers and commitment to the overall peace and security of Oyo State and the country at large.
