Just In: Makinde Upgrades EACOED To University Of Education

Oyo State Government has approved the upgrade of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo to  University of Education.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye disclosed on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

He explained that Emmanuel Alayande College of Education has operated some affiliate degree programs with other Nigerian University over the years and has shown the capacity to be transformed into Emmanuel Alayande University to provide mainly degree programs in education.

Barr Olaleye maintained that the purpose of the upgrading is essentially provide improved standard of education in the state such that graduates from the institution will be able to deploy their expertise into further developing standard of education in Oyo state.

He noted that other federal colleges of education in the state such as Federal College of Education in both Oyo and Lanlate will continue to provide their services for the teeming undergraduates of colleges of education after which they can proceed to obtaining their degrees at the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education.

The commissioner stressed that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, is committed to one of the key pillars of this government, which is qualitative education and educational system.
