Be A Good Ambassador, Oyscoed Acting Provost Charges SIWES Students

The School of Vocational and Technical Education of the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, has organized an orientation course for students of the college who will be participating in this year’s Students Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

The programme which took place at Hall 2 of the College on Tuesday, for the part One students in the College.

While Speaking during the programme, the Acting Provost of the College, Mr. Olukayode Falade charged the students that were going for the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) to be good representatives of the College.

Mr. Falade further advised them
to be up to the task, at their place of industrial training and to always be with their means of identification. He encouraged them to be a source of encouragement to many that would want to seek admission in the college through their deeds.

Addressing the students, the Director of SIWES, Dr. Akintunde Adedoyin added that whatever they learnt at their place of industrial scheme would definitely help them in the nearest future. He told the students to visit the SIWES office in the College from time to time for guidance.

In his address, the Dean of the School of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Programmes, Mr. Oludayo Okunlola warned that unhealthy reports should not be heard of any of them, otherwise appropriate sanctions would be meted out. He advised them to desist from reposting themselves and concluded by praying for them.

Presenting his paper, the SIWES representative from the Area I. T. office, Mr. Yusuf encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them, in their place of industrial training rather than for pleasure or holiday but to take the program with all seriousness.

Equally, Mrs. Rukayat Adedotun encouraged the industrial training students to keep good and accurate records of activities during their training, adding that it will speak volume of their training which would last for sixteen weeks. She advised them not to be truants and be focused on their aim during the training.

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Akin Adedoyin appreciated the Management’s support for the programme. He thanked the SIWES officials and commended the students for their patience during the programme.

Also present at the orientation programme were; the Acting Registrar of the College, Mr. Oyetayo Abioye and the Dean of School of Science, Mr. Johnson Oladipupo, Dean, Students Affairs, Mr. Segun Adesope, representatives of Agric Education and Fine Art Departments, Messrs Ayodele Adeosun and Laba Zaccheous, the SIWES Officer, Mr. Kayode Ogunnuyin and Mrs. Bimbo Ayo-Adeosun who represented the Public Relations Unit of the College.
