
Its a Sign of relief in honour and distinction as alumnus of University of Ibadan, Mrs. Odukoya Mary Ph.d, promoted to Professor cadre, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Dr Odukoya is an Associate Professor of Environmental Geochemistry in the Department of Geosciences, University of Lagos, Nigeria with 20 years of teaching and research as well as laboratory experience in geology and geochemistry courses.
Her area of specialization is Environmental Geochemistry, Mineral Exploration and Medical Geology.

Earlier to her professor cadre, She also attended short courses in Environmental Management in Mining at University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia and Practical and effective integration of geoscience, geographical and cadastral data in GIS systems at University of Lusaka Zambia in 2014.
In his congratulation message, his colleague, the former Vice- Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, received her elevation in joyous mood, he said, “We’re delighted to inform that our 1989 University of Ibadan Alumna, Mary Abiodun ODUKOYA (nee Akindeji), PhD, has been promoted to the grade of full Professor of Geology, at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.
“We are very proud of her as a role model for the girl child and female geoscientists in particular. It can often be very tough breaking the glass ceiling, especially in a profession that is largely male-dominated.” he said.
